Year 5

Attendance   at Year 5 Annual Reviews for students with a statement/EHC Plan or ELP   meeting at Wave 3

 

 

Year 6

Visits   to all children at feeder primary schools by a member of the Learning Support   Team. Interviews with the class   teacher, SENDCO or headteacher and student.   Contact with parents when applicable.   Extra visits to school for particularly highlighted students.

Social   skills/group work between the primary and secondary school linked with the   Educational Psychologist and/or behaviour support services.

Meeting   with the Educational Officer and the Educational Psychologist to plan   Enhanced Learning Provision funding.

Visits   to specialist units or special schools.

 

 

Year 7

Annual   Reviews and Wave 3 Reviews will be carried out in accordance with County   guidelines.

In   class support in core curriculum areas with a TA following guidelines from   the “Wiltshire Indicators and Provision” document. Support is provided for students with the   greatest needs as a priority (Statement/EHC Plan, Enhanced Learning Provision   ELP1, ELP2, Wave 3).

Small   group withdrawal lessons for up to 6 hours per fortnight. These lessons aim to improve literacy   skills. We prioritise students with a   reading age below 9.0 years. Students   are disapplied from either one or both language lessons, depending on level   of need.

Short   withdrawal sessions of 15-20 mins with a teacher or TA. These lessons are aimed at students who   need support with spelling skills. We   prioritise students with a spelling age below 9.0 years.

Short   withdrawal sessions of 15-20 mins with a teacher or TA to focus on   organisational skills, touch typing or social and communication difficulties.

Synthetic   phonics with a Spld teacher for extremely weak readers.

Paired   reading sessions at morning registration or lesson time with TA or teacher.

Paired   sessions at registration to monitor and aid primary transfer. Allocated TA to registration.

Pick   up and deliver vulnerable students to parents each day.

Support   with homework from 2 TAs every lunchtime in any of the 3 Learning Support   rooms. Possibility of a safe haven for   more vulnerable students where they can socialise or play games.

Flexible   timetabling for students with statements/EHC Plans for Asperger’s Syndrome.

Visual   timetable provided for specific students.

10   week Social Skills course for students needing additional support with   emotional, communication and social interaction.

Students   can be recommended for the Classroom Survival course which provides   strategies to cope with the demands of the classroom. Run by Student Pastoral Office.

Specific   support from external agencies will be sought according to student’s need eg.   Speech and Language Therapist, Educational Psychologist, Visual Impairment   advisor, Rowdeford Consultancy Service etc.
